I have just been promoted to chief administrator of residence halls at our university. This is a far cry from my usual task of checking supplies and basic services in different departments, because now I would be in charge of university-based residences, dorms, and yes, even fraternity houses and sorority houses. It seems the board of directors, as well as the higher authorities within our administrative system, are more or less satisfied with what methods and systems I have adopted in my four years of tenure as supplies officer for our university administration.
At present, the university is also under a new president and chairman of the board of directors, who now has approved a considerable fund from the coffers of our institution for the improvement and beautification, as well as necessary maintenance of our residences on campus. Our president, through the approval of the board, has just approved the re-design and/ or renovation of our campus residence halls, on a per request basis. That means each residence hall master makes his own proposals for repairs or renovations and re-design of interiors as they see fit, because they are the ones who actually oversee their respective halls.
As of date we have received proposals practically from every campus residence hall master, who wants to take a part of the budget allotted for the beautification of university residences. It is quite a challenging task for me, because our chairman himself directed that I take active participation in the choice of supplies and specifications for each, as I have that background and experience in matters of procurement of supplies at budget friendly prices.
A very much preferred design option in almost all of the proposals from hall masters is the replacement of area rugs adorning halls and huge common rooms in dorms, fraternity or sorority houses and other on-site residences. Rugs are such a favorite in dorm design because it adds more style and elegance to halls and libraries and huge rooms. Good thing I know just the right place online for great quality but still cheap rugs for splendid re-design projects for your dorm.
